1951 St. Louis Browns Game Worn Jersey.
Grey flannel road jersey dates from the season that Veeck brought a midget named Gaedel to the plate. Tough rare jersey is missing the lettering on front (a victim of minor league hand-me-down status), but not the glorious American League Golden Anniversary patch that marked one of the most memorable seasons of the game’s history. Number “17” on verso attributes jersey to outfielder Ray Coleman, who served three separate tours of duty in a Browns uniform amidst work for other A.L. teams. Zipper front is fully functional. Chain stitching in tail reads, “Coleman 51-2.” Tagging in collar: “Rawlings St. Louis [size] 44.” Some yellowing of the fabric does little to detract. A difficult find in any condition.
