1951 Ted Williams All-Star Game Worn Spikes

1951 Ted Williams All-Star Game Worn Spikes

Well-worn "Rawlings Fleet-Foot" spikes were on the feet of the Red Sox superstar as he took the field at Briggs Stadium. He was probably taking it a bit easier at this mid-season Classic, as he had broken his elbow at the All-Star game a year earlier. The evidence seems to suggest otherwise though, as the clay that ran out from inside the shoes when turned upside down leads one to believe he dug in hard at the plate. Number "9" in faded marker on each tongue. This would be the last time he and longtime rival Joe DiMaggio would share a dugout. Approximately size eleven, if you want to try to walk a mile in the legend's shoes. Acquired from a batboy who worked the game.
