1951 Topps Red Back Complete Set & Topps Blue Back Partial Set (81/104)
Topps produced two baseball sets in their inaugural year of 1951 - red backs and blue backs. Very similar in appearance save for the color of their backs, each was made up of 52 cards, and had a fair number of stars of the day. The red back set presented here is complete at 52 cards, highlighted by stars like: #1 Berra (EX), 22 Feller (NM+), 30 Spahn (NM+), 38 Snider (NM+) and 52 (last card) Holmes (NM+). The blue backs are a partial set (29/52) and include: #1 Yost (NM+), 20 Branca (NM+), 50 Mize (NM+) and 52 (last card) Chapman (NM+). Missing from the blue back set are #s 3 (Ashburn), 6 (Schoendienst), 13, 15, 18, 22, 26, 28, 30 (Slaughter), 31, 32, 34, 37, 38, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 47, 48, 49, and 51. The remaining cards grade a conservative NM or better, with many worth having graded professionally.
