1951 Willie Mays Photo Used For His Bowman Rookie Card
The "Say Hey" Kid was not quite in his hey-day when this 3.75x4.75" photo was shot prior to the future Hall of Famer's 1951 major league debut. This is the actual Bowman file copy photograph used for the creation of Mays' rookie card-the 1951; card number 305 of the set. The timeless photo has one wrinkle but is otherwise in EX condition. The lot includes an original 1951 Bowman Willie Mays card (VG). The 24-time All-Star and two-tine MVP with the Giants went on to bat .274 with 20 home runs and 68 RBI his rookie campaign, helping lead his team to the World Series.
