1952 Brooklyn Dodgers National League Champions Banner
Large-format red-felt banner issued in commemoration of the Brooklyn Dodgers' 1952 National League Championship. This is one of only a few examples of this banner we have ever seen, which was also issued in blue felt. The design features a baseball diamond displaying the names of the club's starting infield, including Robinson, Reese, Campanella and Hodges. Manager Chuck Dressen's name appears in the third-base coaching box, while assistant coach Jake Pitler's appears in the first base box. The names of the remaining players appear in two columns along the left and right borders, respectively. The lettering along the top reads "Brooklyn National-League Champion 1952." All graphics are in white paint, with the exception of the names "Cox," "Reese," "Robinson," and "Hodges," which are painted in red. The banner includes a white strip of felt along the top to accommodate a wooden or metal runner so that it could be hung properly. There is moderate crazing to the white-painted graphics, particularly the infield design, otherwise the banner (17.25x23.5") remains in Excellent condition overall.
