1952 Carl Erskine No-Hitter Last Out Baseball Signed by Jackie Robinson (Erskine LOA)

1952 Carl Erskine No-Hitter Last Out Baseball Signed by Jackie Robinson (Erskine LOA)

This is the FIRST last-out baseball from a no-hitter that we have seen. Certainly a piece that is worthy of the National Baseball Hall of Fame or better yet - YOUR collection. On June 19, 1952, Erskine handcuffed the Chicago Cubs at Ebbets Field for the first of his two career no-nos, culminating in shortstop Eddie Miksis' groundout to short. This toned, official National League baseball has been labeled by Carl Erskine himself on a side panel: "6/19/52-Ebbets Field, Brooklyn vs. Cubs, Brooklyn 5-Cubs-0, No hit-no runs-time 1 hr 45 mins, 103 pitches." As a bonus, Erskine went around after the game and had his teammates sign the ball. Twelve signatures are faded but legible and include Campanella, Robinson, Hodges, Furillo, Dressen, Snider, Reese, Pafko, Pitler, Cox, and Morgan, as well as his own name. Most importantly, this comes from the collection of Carl Erskine with his LOA included.
