1952 Michigan Wolverines Team Signed Football w/Willie Heston
Despite the engraved plaque reading "University of Michigan, Rose Bowl Team, Jan 1, 1951" this ball was actually signed in 1952 and raffled at a University of Michigan alumni dinner on October 3, 1952. At the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco, this was the day before playing Stanford. Handwritten text from the day reads, "Won 10/3 '52 Western U. of M. Alumni Banquet St. Francis Hotel San Francisco, California (By Raffle - Ticket #062185) Michigan - Stanford Game next day... (there is more writing below but cannot be seen as the base covers it). Signatures include some Alumni such as Willie Heston (1904 team's captain and scoring leader). Plus, Joe Shomsky, Ralph Stribe, George Ceithaml (coach), Laurie LeClaire, Lowell W. Perry, Tad Stanford, Bob Topp, Ken Shields, Jack Blott (coach), Ronald Geyer, and more. The Crisler and Oosterbaan sigs are stamped. Total of about thirty signatures adorn this MacGregor-Goldsmith Michigan football. Signatures rate 6/10 and ball holds air and is EX.
