1952 Ted Williams and Jim Thorpe Original Photograph Used For 1959 Fleer Card PSA Type I
Beautiful 1952 Type I photo shows two of the greatest athletes in their respective generations, with an aging Jim Thorpe alongside Ted Williams. The top border has been trimmed so the photo measures just short of 7x9," and a colorized version of this image was used for card #70 in the 1959 Fleer set. Newspaper photo is taped to back along with caption indicating that this was taken at the Boston Sportsmen's Show, date-stamped February 10, 1952. Encapsulated by PSA as Type I Authentic, there's a slight crease running across Williams' face and there is slight bending to the corners, though the image continues to look as though it was just printed.
