1952 Topps #261 Willie Mays Rookie SGC NM 7
Part of The William J. Landherr Collection, this hobby fresh Near Mint example sources from a single owner who collected sets and was very meticulous about acquiring the highest quality. Even though the "true" Mays rookie is considered to be the 1951 Bowman #305, Willie's first ever Topps card was produced in 1952 as card #261. Of the 594 examples in the SGC pop report, only 41 have been graded NM 7 or better. By digging a little deeper, we have calculated that out of the 3,100+ total examples graded by SGC, PSA and Beckett, only 218 have been graded NM 7 or above, coming out to a fitting 7% of the worldwide population! High grade examples like this are seldom offered, so this opportunity should not be taken lightly.
