1953-54 Milan Indians Cardboard Advertising Schedule
They were the inspiration for the 1987 film "Hoosiers," as the Milan High School Indians won the Indiana state hoops championship by defeating Muncie High, a school 10 times its size. Here's the framed and matted schedule from that unforgettable 1953-54 season, measuring 19x25" (26x32" framed). It is the only one known to exist, although there are modern replications on the market. Don't be fooled - this is the Real McCoy! It hung in the Cinderella Beauty Salon that was owned by player Bob Engel's mother and comes with a letter from Bob Engel. In the center is a list of all the games that were played during the state championship season and Mrs. Engel filled in the scores for each game. Surrounding the schedule are advertisements from Milan area businesses. There is some staining and some surface abrasions but still presents very well. Truly a one-of-a-kind artifact!
