1953 Bowman Baseball Card Box with Joe DiMaggio
The original 1953 Bowman Baseball Stars Joe DiMaggio cardboard baseball card display box in this lot has a delightful red, white and black color scheme and features an illustrated DiMaggio on the perforated top declaring that these are the "best cards I've seen," encouraging buyers to "Collect them - Trade them - Save them." The box housed 24 packs of five cards, each including gum. The 1953 Bowman series of cards is extremely important in the collecting world because it was released the year after Topps entered the baseball card arena. Caught off-guard, Bowman was forced to up their game, and they did so admirably, releasing the 1953 collection of photo-image full-color cards. VG-EX condition, with slight ripping to the top hinge.
