1953 Jackie Robinson Avoids the Tag at the Plate (PSA Type I)
Original Type I photograph capturing Jackie Robinson as he avoids the tag at the plate in a game against the Milwaukee Braves in 1953. According to the original Associated Press paper news caption affixed to the reverse (a copy of which accompanies the photo), this play occurred in the third inning of the game played between the Dodgers and Braves on May 3rd at Ebbets Field. Robinson was safe on the play and the umpire is Al Barlick. The Dodgers won the game 3-2. The photo (9x7") remains in Excellent to Mint condition. Encapsulated as Type I Authentic by PSA.
