1954 Milan Basketball Team Photos and Program (4)
From the small school with tremendous heart, these pieces commemorate the 1953-54 Milan High School basketball team, which served as the inspiration for "Hoosiers." All four originate from the collection of starting forward Bob Engel, and come with letters signed by him. Two are team photos taken immediately following the championship game; the 9x7" has tape residue and some paper loss and is in Good condition, while the 10x8" has very minor tears at the border and is in VG condition. A posed team photo is in VG-EX condition, and the program from the celebration banquet dated April 9, 1954, rates GD with horizontal and vertical creases and some pencil writing on front cover. With an enrollment of just 161 students, the Indians remain the smallest school to capture a single-class state championship.
