1954 "Seven Dolls" Painting by Fanchon Finn

1954 "Seven Dolls" Painting by Fanchon Finn

For whom this 1954 sublime painting was made is a mystery, but its imagery and a few choice stanzas in the accompanying 1981 letter by its noted Ohio artist, Fanchon Finn, poetically points to a young girl and her seventh birthday: “A seventh birthday story/ Painted in all its glory...Seven cards are in it too/ With Happy Birthday to you.” Haunting acrylic on canvas, entitled “Seven Dolls,” is framed in cream-colored wood, and is, along with its suggestive letter, a provocative and enigmatic delight. Measures 46 ? x 34 ?”, while letter is in black and blue pen, signed at end by “Fanchon “Cricket” Finn 1981.”
