1955 Bowman Uncut Sheet w/15 Umpires
Presented is a very scarce uncut Bowman 1955 uncut sheet that features 15 umpire cards. Bowman used an unusual presentation in 1955, having players and umpires framed within a television. Umpires include, Augie Donatelli, Frank Umont, Dusty Boggess, Gore, Hall of Fame umpire Cal Hubbard (former NFL player with Green Bay), Babe Pinelli (former MLB player), Lon Warneke (former MLB player), Frank Dascoli, Bill Summers, Hal Dixon, Bill Engeln, Tom Gorman, Larry Goetz, Hall of Fame umpire Jocko Conlan, and Lee Ballanfant. The player cards on the uncut sheet are high numbers, and they include Bill Virdon, Mike Garcia, Hank Majeski, Hall of Fame manager Al Lopez, Tommy Bryne, Marv Grissom, Bob Cerv, Johnny Antonelli, Billy Goodman, and Dale Mitchell - the last batter for Brooklyn in the 1956 World Series against the New York Yankees who struck out to give Don Larson the first and only perfect game in World Series history. The uncut sheet is in overall good condition, but there is creasing above the middle on the Fricano, Lopez, and Bryne cards and under the middle, particularly on the umpire cards of Summers, Dixon, Engeln, and Gorman. The sheet is framed at 20x22.5". The 48 cards on this uncut sheet display the unusual 1955 "television" screen Bowman format and provide rare umpire cards, with two HOF umpires, along with Hall of Famer Lopez and some star player cards.
