1955 Brooklyn Dodgers Schaefer Beer "3D Advertising Display

1955 Brooklyn Dodgers Schaefer Beer "3D Advertising Display

1955 marked the Dodgers first World Championship season while in Brooklyn. To commemorate that victory, Schaefer Beer issued this attractive die-cut cardboard display piece featuring a team photo of the club. What makes the piece unique is that each row of players is on a separate panel, all of which are evenly spaced apart to create a three-dimensional effect. All the key team members are pictured here, including Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Duke Snider, Pee Wee Reese, Gil Hodges, Don Newcombe, and Sandy Koufax. A die-cut easel backing allows for the piece to stand freely on a countertop. While this piece has always been a favorite among collectors, its fragile cardboard construction and die-cut elements have made it extremely susceptible to damage. Fortunately, the offered display is one of the finer examples we have handled. There is minor splitting to the corner seams of the "frame," most notable in the upper right and left corners, as well as light general creasing along the borders. However, there are no tears to any of the players' heads and no tape repair, both of which are commonly found on other examples. Also, the original easel backing remains intact. Technically in Very Good condition, but closer to EX-MT in its overall appearance and probably as fine an example as one could ever hope to find.
