1955 Carl Erskine Brooklyn Dodgers Contract - World Championship Season (PSA)
Four-page fold-over contract between pitcher Carl Erskine and the Brooklyn National League Baseball Club for the historic 1955 season. The contract, which is dated January 18, 1955, has been signed in black fountain pen by "Carl D. Erskine" (grading 10/10) and Brooklyn Dodgers vice president "E. J. Bavasi" (10/10). The one-year contract calls for Erskine to receive a salary of $27,000 for the 1955 season. 1955, of course, ended in surreal fashion for the Flatbush faithful, as the Dodgers defeated the Yankees in the World Series to capture their first and only World Championship while in Brooklyn. Erskine was one of the Brooklyn Dodgers' top pitchers during the 1950s, winning 104 games between the years 1950 and 1957, including 20 in 1953. He finished his career with a record of 122-78, and a 4.00 ERA. The contract (8.5x11") remains in Excellent to Mint condition. Full LOA from PSA.
