1955 Carl Erskine Home Run Baseball - The Only One of His Career (ex-Carl Erskine)
1955 was a dream season for the Brooklyn Dodgers and their fans, and pitcher Carl Erskine enjoyed arguably his best regular-season game on June 10 of that special season. Not only did the lifetime Dodger shut out the Cubs, 7-0, but he clubbed the only home run of his 12-year career in the fifth inning of that night at Ebbets Field. This is that very ball, which comes with an LOA from Erskine himself. The writing on the official National League (Giles) ball is a bit faded but still visible: "6/10/55 Night Game Box 214 Row A, Chicago & Brooklyn, 1st Home Run by Erskine." The fan who retrieved it gave it back to Erskine after the game and it remained in the right-hander's possession until now.
