1955 Carmen Basilio Edward J. Neil Memorial Award
Offered here is the prestigious Edward J. Neil Award given to Carmen Basilio for his service to boxing in 1955. Basilio fought and won five times in 1955 with the highlights winning the World Welterweight Title with a stoppage of Tony DeMarco on June 10, 1955 and stopping DeMarco again in the rematch on November 30, 1955. The metal award mounted on a black wooden base is 12x16." Some chips to the wood, otherwise fine. Has a Lambert Bros tag at the bottom. The award reads, "THE EDWARD J. NEIL MEMORIAL FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO BOXING IN 1955 PRESENTED BY BOXING WRITERS' ASSOCIATION OF NEW YORK TO CARMEN BASILIO. LOA from Carmen Basilio.
