1956 Carl Erskine Last Out No-Hitter Baseball from His Personal Collection (Erskine LOA)
The second of Carl Erskine's no-hitters came at the expense of the crosstown rival New York Giants on May 12, 1956, at Ebbets Field. Now you can own a piece of baseball history as this official National League (Giles) baseball wasn't simply used in the game, but it is actually the final out ball that Erskine fielded off the bat of Alvin Dark and fired to Gil Hodges to finish off the masterpiece. After the game, Erskine had some of his teammates sign the ball, and those signatures range from 2-8/10 and include Campy, Jackie, Snider, Gilliam, Amoros, Reese and Hodges among others, with most players having added their position after their signatures. Erskine also signed and notated the ball: "Sat. May 12, 1956 NY Giants 0-0-0 Dodgers." The ball comes from Erskine's personal collection, and he has signed an LOA attesting to this. The baseball shows nice use and comes with Type I photo from the game itself.
