1956 Grady Hatton Boston Red Sox Game Worn Jersey - Originates from Bobby Doerr

1956 Grady Hatton Boston Red Sox Game Worn Jersey - Originates from Bobby Doerr

Offered is a 1956 game worn Boston Red Sox Grady Hatton jersey. The jersey came to Lelands directly from Hall of Fame Boston Red Sox second baseman Bobby Doerr, but Doerr became a Red Sox scout in 1957 and later was Boston's first base coach. We are not sure how Hatton's jersey came into the possession of Doerr. Hatton's number "1" is the same number than Doerr wore with the Red Sox and this red number "1" appears on the back of the jersey. "Red Sox" is in red letters across the chest. Hatton made the Majors in 1946 without any minor league playing experience as Hatton was in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. Hatton, a third baseman, and sometimes second baseman, was with the Red Sox briefly in 1956, appearing in five games and getting two hits in five at-bats before he was purchased on May 11th by the St. Louis Cardinals. The white home flannel jersey is embroidered "56 44 2in 1" on bottom front tail. Across the chest is "Red Sox" in red letters. On the back is a red numeral "1." There is a "Tim McAuliffe" manufacturer tag on front tail as well. There are holes scattered throughout jersey. It was sold by Lelands in 1993.
