Eddie Machen was a heavyweight boxer who fought during the 1950s and 1960s. During his career, he fought Joe Frazier, Sonny Liston, Ingemar Johansson and others. His career record was 50-11-3 with 29 KOs. Presented here is the 1956 Ring Magazine Progress Award, which was given to Eddie Machen for his efforts to advance boxing. This is a two-piece metal award which reads, "THE RING PROGRESS AWARD TO EDDIE MACHEN FOR GREATEST ADVANCEMENT IN BOXING FOR 1956." Perfectly intact in the original box. The only example of this prestigious award we have seen. 2 1/2" x 5."
