1956 World Series Kodachrome Transparencies (35)

1956 World Series Kodachrome Transparencies (35)

Payback is a bitch - and the 1956 Brooklyn Dodgers learned that lesson one year after knocking off their longtime tormentors from The Bronx. From that 1956 Fall Classic that saw the Yankees turn the tables and edge the Dodgers in seven come these 35 slides, featuring classic images captured both at Ebbets field and Yankee stadium. The rare, early Kodachrome shots produced unparalleled photos such as Mickey Mantle in a batting pose as a Greek god, a wonderful "ump makes the call" shot, President Dwight Eisenhower arriving on the field in a motorcade prior to Game 1, two images of Jackie Robinson showing Walter Alston his bat - perfect to use for photo-matching, J.R. Gillian, a passed-out usher, Roy Campenella and his belly, Pee Wee Reese, Carl Furillo batting, Ralph Branca warming up, Duke Snider and Reese clowning with the camera, a pastoral stadium view, home run shot and several on-field pregame shots showing the men and machinations of the game. Priceless stuff!
