Offered here is the Sport Magazine Award For Top Performer In Boxing for 1957 which was given to Carmen Basilio for his stunning victories over Sugar Ray Robinson and Johnny Saxton. Basilio successfully defended his World Welterweight Title defeating Saxton and won the World Middleweight Title with his win over Sugar Ray. This prestigious ward is metal on a wooden base measuring 10” x 15.” The center plaque is inscribed, SPORT MAGAZINE AWARD TOP PERFORMER IN BOXING 1957 CARMEN BASILIO. This plaque is flanked on both sides by eagles. The plaque is somewhat loose to the base. Several scratches.
