1957 Jackie Robinson NAACP Advertising Poster

1957 Jackie Robinson NAACP Advertising Poster

After retiring from baseball in 1956, Jackie Robinson became very active with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). In December 1956, the NAACP had recognized Robinson with the Spingarn Medal, which it awards annually for the highest achievement by an African American. Robinson chaired the NAACP's million-dollar Freedom Fund Drive in 1957 and was a member of the board of directors until 1967. Awesome poster pictures Jackie in his 1956 Brooklyn Dodgers uniform. "Time To Score For Civil Rights" in bold print with Jackie's facsimile signature below. Poster is mounted on board and has tape residue in all four corners. Vertical and horizontal creases from being sent in the mail. Historically important piece that we have not seen before. Measures 17 x 22"
