1957 Vic Power Kansas City Athletics Game Used Jersey

1957 Vic Power Kansas City Athletics Game Used Jersey

Victor Pellot, better known to American fans as Vic Power was only the second black Puerto Rican to play in the Majors and the first Puerto Rican to play in the AL. His stylish, exuberant, and sometimes showboating play at first, tough sometimes criticized, was nothing short of incredible, and the seven Gold Gloves prove it. We offer his white flannel "home" jersey worn during just his third season in The Bigs. It is sewn with "Athletics" in red-on-blue flannel across the front and has his "7" on the reverse in the very same style. To both the right and left of the number are two minor team repairs of note, and, finally, on the left sleeve is a team logo patch with the scarcely seen red elephant. Above the front hem is a "Wilson [size] 42" manufacturer's tag and running perpendicular to it, along the button line, is "Power 1-57-7" chain-stitched in faded blue thread to a white felt plate. This outstanding specimen is the only unrestored jersey of his we have ever come across and considering its K.C. style and origin, it is clearly ranks among finest game-used pieces from that era available today.
