1958 Louisville Golden Gloves Program featuring Cassius Clay
Historic program from the 1958 Louisville Golden Gloves featuring the future Muhammad Ali competing under his birth name of Cassius Clay, who was 17 at the time. Of note in this well-preserved 6x9" stapled paper booklet, on page 27, Clay appears under the "Light Heavyweight 175 LBS." section, James Ellis is also listed under the "Middleweight 160 LBS." section, and on page 29 is a write up on Joe Martin, Clay's first trainer. Comes from the family that consigned the 1960 Olympics poster in the last auction, has a minor crease to bottom right corner of cover, otherwise in Excellent condition. Clay won six Kentucky and two national Golden Gloves titles, and the legend of "The Greatest" was born.
