1958 Wes Covington Milwaukee Braves Game Worn Jersey - World Championship Season
Milwaukee Braves road jersey worn by outfielder Wes Covington during the club's 1958 pennant-winning season. The gray flannel zipper-front jersey is lettered Braves across the front and features the club's tomahawk logo below. The number 43 appears on the left breast and reverse. All letters and numerals are applied in red on black felt. The player's name and the year (Covington 1958) are chain-stitched in black on a gray strip tag in the collar. A Wilson Size 44 wash tag is located on the left front tail. A Milwaukee Braves team patch adorns the left sleeve. Both the front and reverse numbers have been restored, otherwise the jersey is original as issued. Moderate-to-heavy wear is displayed throughout, including a team repair to a small tear on the reverse. 1958 was Covington's finest season in the Majors, as he recorded career-high marks for home runs (24), RBI (74), and batting average (.330). Those numbers helped lead the Braves to their second consecutive pennant. Covington retired in 1966 with 131 home runs, 499 RBI, and a .279 lifetime average.
