1959-1960 Topps & Fleer Display Box Collection (3)
Collection of three vintage baseball-card counter display boxes dating from 1959 and 1960, each of which is noteworthy for its fine state of preservation. The boxes are empty, but all once housed twenty-four packages of baseball cards. Unless otherwise noted, each box displays normal perforations along the die-cut portions of the lid and light wear associated with its age and former use. Excellent condition overall, with far fewer flaws than are normally found in other examples from this era. 1) 1959 Topps. Gold-and-gray box with an illustration of a ballplayer on the lid. The back panel advertises a free baseball pennant giveaway to customers who send in five bubblegum wrappers. 8x4x2". 2) 1960 Topps. Red-and-yellow box with images of actual players on the lid and front panel. Advertising for Bazooka Gum appears on the back panel. The box displays a small, light stain on the lid, and four small stains on the underside, none of which detract from its overall Excellent appearance. 8x4x2". 3) 1960 Fleer. Cream-colored box with blue-and-red lettering. An illustration of a ballplayer is displayed on the lid, while the back panel advertises for Double Bubble bubblegum. Lettering on the lid and front panel also makes patrons aware that there is a "Free! Team Emblem in each pack." 8.24x4x2"
