1959-60 Boston Celtics Schedule Double LL Ballantine Light Lager
Displayed is a 1959-60 Ballantine Light Lager cardboard broadcast schedule for the Boston Celtics. No broadcast stations are listed on the schedule. In poster form, this schedule would be typically displayed in taverns and restaurants. The schedule lists 32 games in the season's second half, with the Ballantine schedule covering from Jan. 4th through March 9th. The schedule lists some vintage NBA teams that later changed locales: The Minneapolis Lakers became the Los Angeles Lakers; the St. Louis Hawks became the Atlanta Hawks; the Syracuse Nationals became the Philadelphia 76ers; and the Philadelphia Warriors became the San Francisco Warriors. In the 1959-60 season, Boston won the NBA Championship in a best of seven games series against St. Louis. The 1959-60 Celtics amazingly had a seven future Hall of Famers: guards Bob Cousy, Bill Sharman, Sam Jones and K.C. Jones, guard-forward Frank Ramsey, forward Tom Heinsohn, and center Bill Russell. In addition, coach Red Auerbach became a Hall of Famer. The Ballantine schedule does not match the actual schedule that the Celtics played, because the Ballantine schedule lists a Boston home game on January 4, 1960, game against Philadelphia, but on that date and place the Celtics hosted and defeated the Syracuse Nationals. The January 4th listing on the poster could have been a mistake or else the poster was printed before the NBA made schedule revisions. The schedule has an intact fold out stand on the back. The schedule poster is in very good condition, The bottom corners exhibit some wear, and there are small areas in which there is some minor color loss, but the poster is in overall very good condition.
