1960 and 1971 Pittsburgh Pirates World Champion Black Bats

1960 and 1971 Pittsburgh Pirates World Champion Black Bats

Two wooden wonders are offered here, both black bats, each measured at 35”, and each representative of two peaks in the Pittsburgh Pirate history - World Series Champs, 1960 and 1971. Plenty of team members' facsimile signatures are pressed into bat in gold, and highlights on both bats are the inclusion of Roberto Clemente - the greatest right-fielder in MLB. Interestingly, the 1960 Clemente acknowledges his nickname “Momen,” while the 1970 bat has the more proper “Roberto.” Ballplayers included from 1960: Bill Virdon, Mickey Vernon, Bill Mazeroski, among others, and from 1971: Richie Hebner, Bob Robertson, Manny Sanguillen, and, among others, manager Danny Murtaugh, distinguished solely in green. Each carries the “Louisville Slugger” stamp of “Hillerich and Bradsby,” as well as their own “World Champions” stamp with particular years, 1960 and 1971. These black bats were given to players, and some front office members; these two originally came from Joe L. Brown. Both are NRMT.
