1960 Cincinnati Reds Uniform - The Most Complete Uniform We Have Ever Seen (ex-Bailey Family & Reds HOF)
This absolutely magnificent uniform is the most complete setup you will ever see, originating directly from the family of Reds catcher Ed Bailey. It magically includes his jersey, pants, catcher's mitt, cap, belt, leggings, and more, right down to his jock and cup. All show excellent game wear, but are in beautifully preserved museum-quality condition. Bailey was one of the finest catchers in the National League in the 1950s & 1960s. A five-time All Star, he was 11th in career home runs for a catcher (155) when he retired in 1966. JERSEY: Gorgeous road in THE classic Reds style vest, with fitted elastic on sides to accommodate a catcher's girth, making it easier to move around behind the plate. All original with no alterations and his "6" on the verso. The inside tail sports "1960 Set 1" flag tag and "MacGregor 44" in collar. PANTS: Perfectly matching MacGregor 38s with "4-38-25" embroidered felt strip inside. CAP: Our favorite piece in the set, it is a magnificent, fresh as a daisy, two-toned style with red brim and mighty red and dark blue "C" logo on ancient gray flannel. Inside is Bailey's matching "6" interestingly stenciled in black. There is a "5" beside, slightly more faded as it was there previous to the "6" as the cap was likely issued to another player first. Size 7/1/4 Wilson tagging. GLOVE: The stunning old "Rawlings 218" catcher's mitt is beautifully preserved and softened old leather. Shows great use but in in great condition; it is even a top of the line "Ed Bailey" model "Pro Design." MORE: Even has the red leather & elastic "MacGregor" belt, leggings, sanitaries, socks, Apex jock, and “Bike" cup. This is the most complete uniform we have ever seen in all our years in the hobby, which is quite a statement. Recently on display at the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame & Museum at the Great American Ballpark. Comes with copy of email from Chief Curator of the museum documenting its display. Can you imagine this set up on a mannequin in YOUR Hall of Fame display? Priceless.
