Some 23 years before the Baseball Writers of America began honoring Managers of the Year, the prominent award for skippers was handed out by The Sporting News. This hand-written certificate, which measures approximately 23.5" x 17" without the frame, even details the recipient - Danny Murtaugh's - "dramatic World Series victory in seven games over the Yankees." There is some soiling on the parchment.
