“Norman Granz presents” the legendary Ella Fitzgerald on this overwhelmingly red jewel of a concert poster, playing with the Shelly Manne Quintet, the Jimmy Giuffre Three, Roy Eldridge, and the Paul Smith Quartet. “17.2.1960”, the date on which this spectacular arrangement of jazz stars played together for a German audience, one of Granz’s famous JATP (“Jazz at the Philharmonic”) tours. Much like other concert posters of this tour, this 33 x 23 ?” blow-up of nothing but Ella’s sweet face presents as pure abstract - a perfect representation of the exquisite and impressionable details of music, and, especially, that of jazz.
