1960 Jackie Robinson Signed Letter - On the Campaign Trail for Hubert Humphrey (PSA)
One-page type letter, dated March 14, 1960, signed by Jackie Robinson. In his letter, Robinson writes to a friend and endorses Wisconsin Senator Hubert Humphrey for President during the 1960 Democratic Presidential primary. As mentioned in his letter, Robinson was working with the Humphrey campaign both in Milwaukee and Washington. Unfortunately for both Humphrey and Robinson, Humphrey lost the nomination to John F. Kennedy that year. He later served as vice president (1965-1969) under Lyndon Johnson. The letter (8.5x7.25") displays a horizontal fold and a few tiny areas of light discoloration. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope (9.5x4.5": EX) and a vintage black-and-white photo (7x9"; VG-EX) of Robinson and Humphrey captured together on the street while campaigning in 1968. Full LOA from PSA.
