1960 Ted Williams Bat Used to Hit His 517th Career Home Run (PSA 10)

1960 Ted Williams Bat Used to Hit His 517th Career Home Run (PSA 10)

One of only two documented Ted Williams bats in private hands, this was used to hit his 517th homer, among the last of his 521 career round-trippers. Graded a perfect GU 10 by PSA, this bat also has rock-solid provenance, as detailed in the accompanying Letter of Authenticity. This bat was handed from Ted Williams, on Ted Williams Day at Fenway Park, to Harry Carlson, a Boston-area car dealer, collector and Chairman of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, who dictated that all proceeds go to the Jimmy Fund for childhood cancer research. This Model U1 is the only one of it's type ever ordered by Williams, is 36 inches and 34.6 ounces, and matches ordering records at Hillerich & Bradsby for an order placed by Williams on August 31, 1960. It displays great use with cracked and repaired handle (also repaired on handle was a mounting hole), moderate pine tar on the handle, ball marks, stitch impressions and cleat marks on the barrel. Ted's "9" is on the knob in faded marker of this spectacular treasure, given the highest possible grade of 10 by PSA, one of the best Williams bats on the planet.

Addendum: The catalog photo of the bat is incorrect. The correct photos of the bat are the photos pictured on the website.
