1960 Yogi Berra Game Worn Yankees Jersey (ex-Binghamton Collection)
He was both a great player and a great winner. If you need proof as to the extent or degree, consider his eighteen All-Star selections, thirteen World Series championships, and three league MVP’s. Even more than half a century after he played his last game, Lawrence Peter "Yogi" Berra is still ranked as one of the three greatest catchers, if not the greatest, to ever suit up for Major League play. Here we offer Berra’s road gray flannel jersey from the 1960 campaign, when the Bronx Bombers captured their umpteenth Junior Circuit flag, only the have their Series hopes crashed in the ninth inning of Game Seven with one swing of the bat by one Bill Mazeroski. "New York" blazes across the chest with Yogi’s identifying number “8” on the verso, all sewn on in midnight navy blue felt. The left tail displays a "Wilson 42" manufacturer’s label which sits just below the remnants of a felt swatch which once read "Berra 1960" in navy blue chain-link but now only “1960” remains. While the “New York” has been restored and the remnants of a minor league "NY" are clearly visible, Yogi’s “8” endures in its original state. Regardless of the aforementioned distractions, this is still a flannel jersey worn by a Hall of Famer in Major League games and, as such, it remains a rare and significant commodity in any condition. Sourced from a collection of Yankee Jerseys sent down to the minor leagues and sold by general manager of the Bignhampton Triplets, Jerry Toman.
