1960s Bobbing Head Collection (9)

1960s Bobbing Head Collection (9)

They're extremely popular today, especially as giveaway items at sporting events, but the modern bobbing head first surfaced back in the 1950s. By 1960, the first player-specific baseball bobbleheads appeared during the World Series, with Roberto Clemente, Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris being immortalized in papier mache and hard plastic. Some other early examples are right here in this collection, such as: a Cardinals mascot, Fredbird (damaged), New York Giants (small chip under the chin, otherwise EX-MT), a Cubs mascot head (EX), Phillies (NM-MT), Mr. Red (NRMT), Houston Colt 45's (NM-MT), Pirates mascot head (NRMT), Dodgers (EX) and Chief Noc-A-Homa Braves mascot head (NRMT). A must-have for toy collectors!
