1960’s George Vezina Trophy (13”)

1960’s George Vezina Trophy (13”)

This stylish award, designed and first presented in 1926-27, is engraved with “Trophee Georges Vezina”. The Vezina Trophy is given each season to the goaltender judged to be the best at his position in the opinion of the general managers. The first Vezina Trophy went to George Hainsworth, who, ironically, replaced Georges Vezina in goal for the Montreal Canadiens. Identical in every way to the personal trophy awarded each year to the game’s top netminder. This example is certainly vintage and has aged in appearance with a wonderful patina. Green felt cushions the black wood base. Presented in the late 1960’s by the National Hockey League to former Boston Bruins Vice President Charles Mulcahy. Letter of Authenticity signed by Charles Mulcahy.
