1960s Johnny Unitas Crown Gold Oil Most Valuable Player Banner
Amazing circa 1960s cloth advertising banner paying tribute to legendary quarterback Johnny Unitas. Measuring a sizeable 80x42", the top half features a tremendous posed color image of Unitas ready to throw in Baltimore Colts uniform (no helmet), and the bottom half reads, "I fill up with Crown Gold for Action!" in red and blue lettering. Below that reads, "Johnny Unitas - Most Valuable Pro-Football Player, Quarterback NFL." There are large areas of discoloration, particularly in the top left quadrant, with that corner displaying fraying, and while there is some fading this still has a tremendous vintage look. This hung as an advertisement at Crown Gold Oil in the Baltimore area between 1959 and 1967.
