1960s Matty Alou Pittsburgh Pirates Game Used Batting Helmet

1960s Matty Alou Pittsburgh Pirates Game Used Batting Helmet

Scion of one of the great baseball families, the Alou's are the Medici's of the baseball world. This is one of the finest example of game used equipment for this tremendous major league star who was involved with three great franchises and this perhaps best of all. Fiberglass batting helmet has that brilliant look in game worn we all pursue. Dating from the later half of the 1960's with a translucent "P" on the front in mustard yellow. Basic black with all original padding inside, it has tremendous use yet is in excellent condition with just some slight chips around the edges and the brim. All important "18" written in vintage marker is inside as well as "F.C" written in for Fred Cambria, who most likely wore it after Alou. American Baseball Cap Company sticker inside with size 7 on it. Wonderful tributary to Roberto Clemente latin teammate on the Bucs and the road to the 1971 World Championship.
