1960s Red Klotz Washington Generals Collection - Jewish Sports HOFer
For the Harlem Globetrotters to be the "Clown Princes of Basketball," they need a foil, and for many years the Washington Generals admirably filled that role. This lot is a great selection from the man who originated that troupe in 1952, Louis "Red" Klotz, who is also a member of the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. Included is: a red-white-and-blue Trotters game-used Baden ball signed by Klotz, with Washington Generals written in black marker. A pair of signed, game used Converse sneakers, white with green highlights. A full Generals game worn 1960s uniform with yellow jersey and shorts with green trim, both signed. The jersey is also signed by Sam Sawyer, who spent many years with the team, in particular "guarding" (and being tormented by) the great Meadowlark Lemon. All of the pieces show very nice use.
