1960s United States Relations with Cuba Wire Photos (27)
In the 1960's, tensions ran high between the US, Cuban immigrants and a newly communist Cuba. This collection of (27) wire photos tells the story. Mostly from the years immediately following the ill-fated Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961, some of the best images in this lot are of protesters clashing in Times Square. A large group of Anti-Castro Cubans opposed a rally in support of students who found trouble with the State Department when they defied a ban on travel to Cuba. The photos capture vivid images of angry Cubans standing and shouting from the hoods of cars stopped in Times Square traffic. Also included in this lot are the inflammatory news photographs of those same students, one holding a portrait of Castro, disembarking from their flight back from Cuba. All are 8x10" front captioned wire photos. A small number are in VG condition with most NM/MT.
