1960s Vietnam War Peace Protesters Helmet Worn by Veteran

1960s Vietnam War Peace Protesters Helmet Worn by Veteran

This fabulous piece of American folk art was likely worn in battle by an unknown soldier who later became a disillusioned protester. Actual “war used” helmet in original red psychedelic paint w/black tape for stripes; the opposite of the white stripes of the American flag (symbolic of death or mourning). At top is painted a moving peace symbol, the ultimate personification of the Peace Movement this was a part of. Hippy leather string has replaced the missing chin strap.
