1960s Yogi Berra Signed Yoo-Hoo Advertising Sign (PSA 10 Auto)

1960s Yogi Berra Signed Yoo-Hoo Advertising Sign (PSA 10 Auto)

"I really didn't say everything I said," said Hall of Fame catcher-outfielder Yogi Berra, a legendary baseball player who is equally famous for his sayings, usually illogical on the surface, but aphorisms that make sense when one thinks about them. Berra's sayings, such as, "It's deja vu all over again," helped to make him both famous and lovable, a great choice to be the spokesman for a company. One of those companies was Yoo-Hoo, a business that produced a chocolate drink. Presented is a 1960s 11x17" advertising sign on cardstock for Yoo-Hoo. The colorful ad shows Berra, in a black and white cut from a photo, smiling, with a cartoon-like dialogue "balloon," like in the comics, that shows Yogi saying, "big energy boost!" The ad also features a brightly colored six-pack of Yoo-Hoo bottles, and on the six-pack photo is printed, "High Protein Yoo-Hoo ENERGY drink/six 10 fl. oz ONE-WAY bottles." In the 1960s, Berra was a well-established American hero, and part of a related advertising campaign included television ads that had Yogi saying, "It's Me-He for Yoo-Hoo." Yoo-Hoo was first produced in 1928, and it is still made today. Berra wasn't only a colorful character; he could really hit. Only 5'8", Yogi was a three-time American League MVP and a wonderful batter who was one of the best "bad ball" hitters who ever lived, hitting home runs on pitches over his shoulders or near his ankles. Berra bashed 358 home runs, all for the New York Yankees, for whom he played for nearly his entire 19-year career, with the exception of a very brief comeback in a 4-game stint with the New York Mets as a player-coach in 1965. The advertising poster is in good condition, with a few very small creases and some minor spots of paper loss in various places. Berra signed the bottom of the poster, clearly writing, "Yogi Berra" in blue ink from a fine-tipped marker. The Yogi and Yoo-Hoo sign can be used to add a warm, 1960s feel to any sports collection. The item comes with a PSA LOA.
