1961 "Pogo" Successive Dailies BASEBALL Original Art

1961 "Pogo" Successive Dailies BASEBALL Original Art

Walt Kelly's long-running "Pogo" comic strip specialized in social and political satire, and it is especially rare to see him introduce baseball content as he did in these strips, which reference the World Series and a one-pitch strikeout, respectively. The two dailies are folded down the middle and were most likely shipped to a fan. They were syndicated on successive days in October of 1961, as they are noted in pen: 10-5 and 10-6. That means they ran in national newspapers on the day of World Series Game 2 and the off-day that followed.
