1962 Roman Mejias Houston Colt 45's Game Used Jersey
In 1962, the National League expanded to ten teams with the addition of the Houston Colt 45s and New York Mets. Outfielder Roman Mejias, obtained from Pittsburgh in the expansion draft, was the hitting star of the Colt's first game ever, hitting two home runs in their 11-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs. This number 25 wool jersey was worn by Mejias during this historic first season of the team that before long became the Houston Astros. The front of the jersey has been changed to read "Colts" and sent to minors, where it formerly read Houston; everything else is original. Texas state flag patch appears on the left sleeve; Spaulding size 40 tag on left front. Washing instructions with "Set 1 1962" flag tag inside front tail. A true piece of baseball history.
