1963 Cassius Clay Charity Boxing Program
Dated Monday, July 15, 1963, this souvenir program from a charity boxing variety show at Scranton Lodge depicts a very youthful Cassius Clay on the cover. All pages of this 5.5x8.5" staple-bound program are intact, there's a crease on the bottom right corner of the cover with a small paper tear, but overall rates in EX condition. The photo caption rightly describes Clay as the, "Most Exciting Personality to Grace the Boxing Scene Wince World War II... and leading challenger for the heavyweight crown." Less than one year later, he would upset Sonny Liston for the title and change his name to Muhammad Ali.
