1963 Pete Rose National League Rookie of the Year Award
A highly coveted collectible, this is the official National League Rookie of the Year award presented to Pete Rose by the Baseball Writer's Association of America in 1963. With Rose rookie cards selling for $50,000 plus in high grade, this award is virtually priceless and it has a great pedigree, having come from Pete's ex-wife as is detailed in her 1996 letter regarding the sale of the award. The sterling silver bowl is 8" in diameter and is engraved "Baseball Writers Association of America, 1963 Rookie of the Year, National League, Pete Rose, Cincinnati Reds." It is in NRMT condition and is stamped on the bottom by the maker, Web, and comes with a copy of a photo of Pete with this exact bowl standing beside Fred Hutchinson in 1964. Rose batted .273 in that rookie campaign, which kicked off the longest and among the most controversial careers in the history of the sport.
