1963 Post Cereal Baseball Card Original Art Work

Lot of twenty six (26) one-of-a-kind copy art poster board lay-outs used in the production of the classic - and final - run of Post cereal baseball card promotions. Each illustration board is impeccably preserved in the original hard cover folio, with Post cereal art department proofing notations and color adjustment instructions. Each illustration board and individual card lay-out is oversized in comparison to standard cereal box panel and card dimensions, and is absent the advertising copy appearing on cereal package production units. Highlight of this remarkable find is viewing the original Kodachrome prints of players appearing in the set, which are products of noted photographer Art Shay. Of particular hobby historical note, are two (2) illustration boards representing Oat Flakes - 15 ounce panels that were never produced (and thereby undistributed) on cereal packages. One of these 2 historical Oat Flakes illustration boards contains the Hank Aaron mock-up card with his brother, Tommie Aaron, inserted into the photo frame! Original Kodachrome prints of eighteen (18) Hall of Famers are included in the lot (as indicated by italicized names). Some copy art displays flaking, peeling or peripheral staining of adhesive affixing photographs and statistics. A copy of the 76-page book, "Postage Due: The 1963 Post Cereal Baseball Card Promotion" by Dan W. Mabey is included with the lot.
